Be very careful. There is a lot more potentially twisted than just the steering crown. Take it to a pro with the proper tools and measuring equipment.
I rebuilt a VT800 after a serious front end accident. The frame was straightened by the motorcycle specialty shop the FRAMEMAN SHOP in Sacramento, CA. They needed the bike stripped of all parts except frame, motor, and forks. I replaced the forks. The FRAMEMAN found the backbone and the engine cradle downtubes also needed adjustment. They gave me a nice write up of before and after measurement. They pulled and pushed the frame back into factory spec. Its worth a few hundred dollars to get the frame right.
Note, the VIN goes with the frame. If you change frame or VIN you may have to re-title as a reclaimed or salvaged bike.
Good Luck,
Haze
