What’s up guys. Just picked up a pretty beat up 2002 VT600CD. She’s pretty tore up. Looking to piece her together over the next coming weeks by summer time. Still have the bike in a trailer. Need to do a full assessment once I get it home and in the garage. Anyways not new to forums, I’ve built a few 4Runner’s in my past life. Growing family has moved us in to Yukons and tahoes. I’m a full time equipment mechanic for a construction company. This bike won’t be used as a commuter at all, I was thinking of bobbing it but the ball and chain has kindly asked against it in the event she wants to ride with. Has anyone done the TJ brutal customs lowering kit? Interested in that for sure. I guess I should get the engine running and make the bike rideable before I start thinking about mods. Anyways happy to be here! I’ll try my best to document as much as I can!

Face588 Welcome to the forum from West Chester, PA. Several 600's here so someone should be along soon with comments. I ride a 750 Spirit and primarily ride with the solo seat. I have it set up so I can swap out to the 2 up seat and bring along a grandkid. Some creative engineering on your part could provide a similar set up. Enjoy the ride and yes, please share some pics.

Welcome from Utah! The VLX is a great bike. My wife has an 05 VLXcd. Good luck with your project and keep us posted with pics along the way!

Thanks for the warm welcome! I’ve been traveling quite a bit the last few days. Finally got the bike out of the trailer. Oof. Let’s just say I told my wife I got this bike for less than what I paid. I was in a hurry and didn’t really take a look before I handed over the money. I’ve got parts arriving next week. First goal is to get the engine running. Simple enough. Kid who sold it to me said theh couldn’t figure it out. It does not have a start switch. They hammered the ignition switch so a whole set up is on its way. I’m pretty stoked. This is my first bike build, parts can’t get here soon enough.
