Yes the 1983 was the first V twin 750 Shadow, and for the next few years the government put a tarriff on import bikes over 750 cc, so Honda dropped to 700 cc until 1988 when they came out with a 800cc, when the tarriff was lifted.
Other countries got the 750 all those years however.
