New Ride... not a Shadow.

My CBGoldwingHarleytriumph is still a long way from being finished... but I did some garage cleaning, and traded in all my extra parts... a couple of old frames, a bunch of wheels, a half-there CB360...

and came away with this. I figure I'll have it on the road by mid week... after all my house guests and day to day responsibilities are taken care of. It needs a master cylinder rebuild (just needs to be installed now and brakes bled), a rear brake arm installed (took forever to find one...but finally did), and a new petcock (which arrived yesterday). Introducing... 2nd Rat. (rat squared? Rat the Second? fat rat? I dunno... I'll figure it out.)






It's getting painted... that VanHalen gold striping job has gotta go, and I'm going to make a new seat for it. Swapping the clubmans for drag bars... too many crushed discs to wanna be hunched over that much. But that's it. Other than that, she's good to go.

A good looking job on a "parts bike" there rat!!! That thing probably weights about 500lbs...kinda slimmed down from a stock 1975. :wink: I remember that look/feel/sound of those 750's out there on the roads. Wish I could be there to hear that Kerker bark. :shock:

I was looking closely at some of the parts/pieces...watch that gas cap(69-70 model cap). It has a "habit" of popping open(weak spring latch) as you ride. That cap was superceded(recall) with a lockable one from 71-up (any small straight piece of metal could open it) so it would NOT pop open while riding. :roll:

Get that seat and bars taken care of and have some fun!!! :wink:

Ah! Very nice! I am starting on teh "Cheese" rebuild now! Going to do a dual disc conversion up front, tear the head off and put a new timing chain/rings, seals in and powdercoat the head yellow before reassembling it. Also going to powder the rotors, calipers, clutch inner plate, cross drill all three rotors, and thinking about a dual carb set up instead of four.

Have a cafe fairing being painted, should be done today. This is on a 76 CB750F. It is alot funner (wrd?) to ride than the twin!

Nice cafe there though! I saw some Dunstall rear pegs and rubbers on Ebay yesterday for sale..... would look good on there. I am not going total cafe.....not yet.... anyway.

Nice ride rat! Those old four-bangers are a lot of fun. I'm certainly enjoying mine.

Nice bike. My son and I are restoring a '72 CB750, but we've been into it for 3-4 weeks already. Mainly waiting on parts.

Not going cafe with it... I dunno what it's gonna be... ratfighter?

it's gonna be customized on the cheap... comfortable, reliable, and did I say cheap?

Picked up a set of MX bars yesterday for $15.00.
I've got a stock k model front fender that's getting put on it.
I've got some leather and foam in the garage for the seat.
Going to pick a muffler for it... first one I find at the junkyard that fits and still has a baffle is going on it... that "muffler" in the pic is hollow, I can fit my entire forearm in it. I'm thinking some sportbike can will work.
Dropping by the reserve base to day to see if they'll sell me any Olive drab paint.
Sidecovers are cracked.. so they're going bye-bye. Right side doesn't need a cover anyways, and I'm going to make a leather one for the left.
Trying to find a breadbox air filter... anything but stock, I swear they built the frame around those damn air filters.
and then I'm gonna figure out bags for it... I'm thinking army surplus haversacks, with rigid reinforcement inside the back.

as long as it's cheap, reliable... and cheap.

Hey rat

Looking good, man! Of course what you should really do is dump the bars for some clip-on's, junk the stock pegs for some rear-sets, bin the gastank for a nice Lyta polished alloy jobbie, fit a single seat with bumstop and hey presto, you are good to come over for an Easter run to the coast where we can look for some Mods to beat up hahaha!

However, I am more than a little impressed with your own ideas.
