hi everyone, and thanks for being here!

i purchased a 2000 Shadow Spirit 1100C and its been sitting for I'm gonna guess 2-3 months. Now i know from experience its best to change the oil when the engine is warm, however i am not at the point that it will run properly

so with that said should i just change the oil and filter anyway, im afraid since i do not know when the oil was changed it may do more harm then good right now

thanks!

Oil change

The reason that you change the oil when warm is so that it flows better and you get more of the old oil out. Go ahead and change the oil, just leave it drain for a longer period of time so that you get out as much as possible. You can use a lamp or heater to heat up the engine before you change the oil too. Make sure that you use oil that is not rated energy conserving or has friction modifiers in it or you pooch your clutch.
