I'm looking at a 2000 honda shadow ace 750 with 11,275 miles on it.It will be my first bike. they want $3500 for it..I'm 45 yrs old 5'9" about 260lbs ...is this a good starter bike? i'm taking the basic riders coarse next month...
If the bike has been well taken care of, sheltered, and has no visible damage, cranks easily and idles smoothly you may have a winner. Offer them $3000 as most models that vintage go for that or less. The 750 A.C.E. is a very nice, very reliable, good looking ride.
I have an 06 Aero 750 which is fine dor me..5'10' 160lbs.. But when my wife joins me it change things alot. For your size i would choose not smaller that a 1100cc bike. Its always a good idea to have more power than you need than to not have enough. And if you put the 750 on the interstate with your weight you will be disappointed. But thats jusy my opinion. And we all know what thats worth.
Make sure it "feels" good. form fit and function are important. Also if you plan to do much 2 up riding I would suggest a larger engine....And by the way, Welcom to the forum, keep your eyes on the rally section, the 07 may be in your back yard!
