Just picked up my first bike tonight. 2004 VT1100 Shadow Spirit. 15k miles, black, windshield, and previous owner drilled the baffles out of the stock exhaust from the outside (not hole saw) (will have to take a pic.) sounds good but the end of the mufflers have holes in them (excuse for new exhaust in future.)

Just wanted to say "thanks" as i read literally hundreds of threads on this site before i went shopping. I felt informed. I knew i wanted a Shadow months ago when i started the process of getting a bike. I took the safety course in Gainesville, FL last month from Motorcycle Safety Training and had a blast. I could not imagine a more efficient class. Excellent, knowledgeable instructors, teaching essentials of safety and riding. But the info, reviews, and community i witnessed on this site sold me on the shadow.

My family is a biker family but i joined the pack late. So excuse some newbie questions once in a while. I will use the search feature as much as possible. I do all my own mechanic work on my vehicles and the Shadow will be no different. Just need to learn what i am doing.

Here are a few shots of the bike from tonight: my wife and kids were more excited than i was (not really but i was glad to see their delight when i rolled up)

Welcome from the bottom of the world. I joined the site after utilizing it for information before I bought my Shadow and it's been really handy since.

There's a great bunch of folk here whom I'm sure you'll enjoy knowing. All the best to you and your family.

Cheers, Peter

Nice looking bike and family. The last few days Florida has been the only state in the Union where one could go barefoot without fear of frost bite. Ride safe, and visit the forum often.

We trudge on.

Welcome! And, it's 'bout time you came to your senses and got yourself a scoot! Two thoughts for the day: "Four wheels transport the body, two wheels move the soul." and, "Ride like there is no tomorrow, but ride to ride tomorrow." Drop in often and don't be afraid to ask questions. We all have the capacity to learn something new and this is a great forum to do so.
