I've had my first bike ('03 750 ACE) for about a month, and already the custom bug is gnawing at my wallet.

(as though i need to spend money on this honda when I already have a dozen 4 wheeled hondas that could use that cash)

anyway...I've ordered a set of the 7-out forward controls (i'm 6'1" 220 lb, with a 36" inseam), and the bike came to me with a giant Memphis Shades windshield, some aftermarket bars (no idea what they are, other than poorly installed), and a "normal" sissy bar.

However, I really want some hard (painted) bags, and exhaust.

the research I've done tells me that the 750 needs the right exhaust (and proper tuning) to really make any power, since it's a teeny motor. Anyone have any good suggestions on a useful pipe that isn't stupidly loud? I do alot of highway riding/droning, and in the current state she's about done at an indicated 80. (i live in oklahoma, where the wind blows a steady 20 mph on calm days..and no matter where you are going, it's always a headwind)

secondly....does ANYONE make a decent set of hard bags for this thing? I can't find a bag that even gets close to the shape of the fender; I'm about ready to buy a second fender and build a set of bags out of it.

thirdly....and this is the second resort to finding/building decent bags.... i've found a wide tire (230) kit for the 750 spirit, but i can't find one for the ACE. does one exist...or can i adapt the spirit kit (since they are both chain drives)?

thanks for any input, I look forward to wasting as much time here as I do on my other boards!!

Welcome to the forum and welcome from a fellow '03 ACE rider from New MExico. Here's a place to really whet your appetite for ACE 750 mods.
http://www.sa750.com/ It's best viewed with Internet Explorer. I've tried with Firefox and there are issues.
I'm your boat when it comes to hard bags for the 750. The only company I've found that matches their hardbags for the 750 ACE charges a pretty penny, but WOW! Look at Champion Sidecars http://www.championsidecars.com/hardbags/getBag.aspx?b=4
Another mod to look at for the 750 ACE is the rear sprocket change. The stocker is a 42 tooth, but some of the folks here have switched to a 38 tooth sprocket with great success. Just do a search for the mod and you'll finds lots of info on it.
Have fun with your new baby. Don't let anyone tell ya that you need a bigger bike for a single ride. And go have a great ride.

"since it's a teeny motor"

IMHO
The 750 can be quite a surprise when built properly.

It has a higher compression ratio than the 1100 in my Sabre.

Solid lifters.

That chain drive leaves you a lot more options for setting up your final drive ratio than those of us with a shaft drive.

Great bike, I have really enjoyed mine. I have the National Cycle bags. I think they fit the contour of the ACE fender pretty well.

you may want to look into a set of used HD Road King bags. You'll have to do a little bracket work yourself, but it's a good look in my oppinion.
