Hello! Found this forum while searching for answers on how to make my ride (2000 Honda Shadow VT1100 ACE Tourer) more comfortable for my tall frame. I am a little over 6' tall and need to get my legs stretched out in front of me more. Wondering if anyone found a good solution. Also, the bike is a little plain...would like to dress it up without going overboard. Input welcome and encouraged!

hello and welcome forward controls and high way pegs will help alot with your longer frame beyond that bike looks good maybe a tank bib and windshield bags perhaps a studded mustang seat really depends on your budget and preferences

if going with forward controls maybe go with floor boards at the same time would really add to comfort and looks imo

good luck

As far as dressing it up a bit, I'd look into a chrome front fender tip and I would line the edge along the bottom of the gas tank with some chrome edge-dressing. I just bought a roll at the auto parts store for $11 for 18ft. The link below is what I used although there may be some better brands out there.

My vote is for more chrome, but I tend towards the ACE and Aeros.

Where 'bouts in Upstate, if you don't mind me asking? I'm outside Albany in Rexford, but I grew up in the northwest Adirondacks. Spent most of my childhood figuring Upstate started about Syracuse. ;oD

Welcome to the forum, the bike looks great as is IMHO.
I see you have crash bars so forward controls may not work, but hi-way pegs would be easy to mount to the bars.
Might also consider floor boards.

Black bikes have to be fast because when it is over 100 degrees out side in the sun and the tank is about 200 degrees, you have to move it along pretty fast to keep the inside of you legs from frying !

 ..Yes.. But excess heat causes drag as an object moves through space, As Well As inflicting a myriad of operator tank ouchies! C'mon fella's.. Can't argue with Science.. Medicine, OR tha Ing-a-lish .. ??? .. Well.. black is classically known as the opposite of white, white being the lightest color..

There, I rest my cases

Welcome from a fellow NY'er
Nice looking "T". I have been looking for one down state for a while but rarely see any that are not hundreds of miles away.
Check out the Ace Tourer site for more specific info that is directly related to your ride. THey also have a parts area for those hard to find items.

Seriously...nice looking bike. Welcome to the forum.
I added forward controls to my bike and it made the ride a lot more comfortable.
Thanks and I agree...black bikes are the fastest :) ! I was looking at forward controls, but with the crash bar on, I don't think there is room. Removing them is an option I guess.
