I had to buy a new front seat for my vt750 ACE and it came as a set along with the pillion seat. For the life of me I do not see how to get the pillion on? I have searched YouTube and cannot find any videos of someone installing a pillion on their bike. I’m sure I am just being dense but I can’t see how to get it on.

The front seat hooks under the frame bracket by the tank and is held down at the back by bolting it to the fender. The factory bolt for that has a step in it that the rear pad hooks onto and is then in turn bolted at the back. The way you have it sitting, the rear pad is backward.

You have them sitting backwards in your picks. Flip the pillion seat around. The pillion seat will slip underneath your front seat. The chrome piece with the hole in the back, that is where your bolt goes through into the fender.
Note: I put a rag under the chrome piece with the hole while sliding everything into place so that I don't scratch my fender.

You have to have that special bolt holding the front seat on and push the rear seat forward so the bracket slips over the bolt, then pull back on the rear seat and install the rear bolt.

You might be able to diy it with a regular bolt and a jam nut. It just needs the head of the bolt to stick up a bit to hook that bracket.

Edit: Rear bolt is just a normal bolt, 6mm thread. Rear bolt looks like the picture, 8mm thread.

That "Special Bolt" on mine has a "hex socket" head...

Well…I looked closely at my seat bolt and I do believe I have the factory bolt. So now I am wondering if the seat I have is not close enough to the factory seat. Because I do not see a way to get the bracket anywhere near that bolt. Even after I press down pretty hard the pillion seat bracket is hitting the back of the front seat approx 1/8 inch above the bolt.

As I remember, it took quite a bit of compression,,,

Seem to remember holding it up against the front seat and really smacking the rear seat forward to get it to pop over the bolt. Had a Corbin on it for the last 12years, no longer an issue.

It will go on, provided you have the correct fastener...
Place the wide portion of the bracket hole over the bolt head, then pull rearward to engage the smaller part of the hole onto the bolt head and line up the rear fastener hole on the fender, insert the bolt...

Fairly easy with the right technique,
Dennis

Bring it over IF you still have problems
