I have a 95 Honda shadow vlx 600 am I able to powder coat the tank with out the soldering melting. This question is coming from the guy who is powder coating parts on my bike including my tank ??!

If the powder coat gets up to 400F then it would soften solder.
But my question is would the factory hold gas tanks together with lead solder that may crack with expansion/contraction and vibration? Or is it steel welded?
Unless it has been repaired with solder-???

Aren't tanks welded? I always assumed so but now that it has come up I don't know for sure?

Only way I can see it being soldered is with low lead content meaning higher temperature.
Why would it soldered instead of welded would be for any leaks that the welding didn't cover. But I find that unlikely.
Have a look here, they would braze the tank instead of soldering.
