Is there anything you can put on the "dash", instrument panel, idiot lights, whichever (85 VT700 Shadow) to keep the words from fading or disappearing?

I think most of the "printing" on the dash stuff is just painted onto the plastic surface. IF you still can see most of the instrument names I'd take a "metal scribe" (very thin, sharpened metal awl) and try to "scribe" (write over) the lettering. THEN, I'd take some white paint and put on these "scribed" areas THEN wipe the excess paint off. Let dry, apply another coat of paint.

Not hard to do, but tedious. :roll:

I tried that on the last one while it still had a LITTLE bit of lettering left. no luck. (Maybe if I had a jeweler with a find hand try it). Thanks though

How about trying dry-transfer lettering, also known as rub-on lettering. Chartpak and Letraset are two brands I know of. These are individual vinyl leters on a transfer sheet that you line up and rub on to stick. Can follow up with something like Krylon crystal clear acrylic spray to help hold them in place and protect them.

Thanks, we installed the new dash and it HAS the lettering on it. I was looking for a way to keep the letters from coming off again. The name of that crystal clear you mentioned is what I was looking for. Thanks again!!

Try liquid glass, it works for most of my applications, and then do several applications.
