Being new on here I didn't see a project topic so
I guess I'll do one here.

So my buddy Gerald felt it was a good idea to
give Vickie my G/F this '83 VT 500C shadow for x-mas
because she want's to start riding again.

Story on the bike is it was a rider three year's ago and just parked
and set out side since so I don't know ?
Not had time to look at it real good yet so don't know a lot about it
yet.

This is not my first bike project that has been
sitting for year's so I'm aware of the issue's.
I'm in central TX so rust and corroded connection's are not as
big an issuse as it is for you northern folk's.

Plan this weekend is to get it stripped down for cleaning.
carb's cleaned in the sonic cleaner, change oil & filter, battery
and get a key made for it.

Messed with this thing a little over the weekend.
Got the ign. switch out and to the locksmith to get a key made.
Carb's off and their going to work in the morning for a swim in
the sonic cleaner and then figger out what part's I'll need.

Andy I already plan to lower it a little the G/f has short leg's
I've got a set of shock's that are about 1" shorter and
slide the fork's in the tree's about 1".

So who's a good source for part's for this thing ?
I'm an old Kawasaki guy I know where to get part's for them
but not a Honda.

Got the switch back from the locksmith
Fork lock pin and the switch it's self work like they should
for a 30 y/o switch so that's cool.
$32 buck's with two key's wasn't bad.
Vickie's all giddy she's got a key to HER motorcycle
on her key chain so I get a cookie :D

Carb's are all cleaned but still need to put them back
together and get two choke plunger's and a cable.
Partzilla show's they have the plunger's, spring's and
the threaded elbow but not the cable.
