You are running on your reserve/sub tank when the light is on. No need to flip anything.

A reminder to occasionally ride your bike on "Reserve".
The petcock has a screen in side the tank, but it is just that - a screen.
Small particles can go thru the screen and settle in the "Reserve" hole.
They will eventually cement it shut.
