As hard as it is to remove bugs from a windshield after they get hard, I would imagine they could have some negative affect.

Then again there is the wiper that cleans most grit off the fork tube before it gets to the seal itself.

Ahhh. Yes. I’ve seen those. Stock right? Yeah. Brian has those on the vstar 1100 classic.

I too have the stock metal (I think) covers over the forks on the Phantom. I like them because they do keep stuff off the fork tubes and they just make the front end look more massive.

I don’t like them because I cannot see or keep the fork tubes clean and when a leak develops I probably won’t see it for a while.

As best as I can remember you have to take the forks out of the triple trees to get the covers off. I think it would have been better to make them easier to get off.

To the OP, maybe you could get some stock covers and adapt them to your bike,,,
