An Autolite 4164 is a substitute for an NGK DPR6EA-9, which is a "hotter" plug than stock. Maybe the previous owner had experienced fouling issues and decided to go to a hotter plug.

"Reading the plugs" is a good way to know if your engine is running right. Which one of these pictures looks most like YOUR plugs? How do I "read" a spark plug? - NGK Spark Plugs

You can take closeup pictures of the electrodes of your plugs and post them to the forum for advice.

Some Shadows require a thin wall socket to get at certain plug locations. If the tool kit is present on the bike the cheap socket provided can do the job. Be careful when threading the plug in, and don't mess up the threads. I start the plugs with a section of rubber tubing over the connector end for better "feel", then once it's in a few threads, follow up with the socket. Don't over-tighten the plugs.
