These statements need context. I am totally not worried about a deer strike as much as I am a rear-end collision...
...unless I take a trip to the mountains, where nobody is going to rear-end me in a million years...
Fearing semi's on the x-way so you avoid it.
Fearing a fuel tank blowing up, so you avoid it.
Fearing a part might break, so you replace it and avoid allowing it to die with dignity.
Fearing riding a motorcycle, so you avoid it.
Fearing the internet, so you avoid it.
Fearing life itself, so you avoid it.
I was told some years ago by someone whom I considered to be wise, "Sometimes a man's fears can be the better part of his good judgement." At 56 I've seen many occasions where that was the case. And I'd venture a guess that you're a little younger than that, thus the statement. When I was young, dumb, and full of ***, I was pretty invincible and suffered the injuries to prove it. Now with more yesterdays than tomorrows, I try to keep the odds in my favor.
Youre confusing fear for 'respect'. As in "respect that your father can kick your ass if you mess up" but not "fear your father because he can but chooses not to kick your ass".
Respect that a motorcycle can 'kill' you, but dont fear riding them.
much safer having one between your legs over a hot engine

****!!! I literally laughed outloud. You get the point im making
