This post is not to say what is best or what is not best. Only to help you make the best decision for you.
I usually dress for comfort. Friday was no different, it was chilly, and I wore leather chaps and jacket. Had it been hot, I would have just had a short sleeve shirt on. I'll have to re-think that practice.
After hitting a deer at highway speeds, I took quite a tumble down the road. No gear can stop broken bones, but this gear obviously saved me a bit of grief, the helmet likely saved my life. Please, this is not a "helmet vs no helmet" debate!
It is a simple lightweight fiberglass helmet, by Licks. It looks like I rolled several times, like break dancing on my head.
The jacket and chaps were good quality leather. I still got abrasions on both arms, but I'm glad I had them on.
