Many of you may recall John Hopkins sent me a book he wrote about his ride through Wales on a motorbike. He sent it to me as many of you thought I was crazy to ride a "New to me" bike from Texas to New Hampshire in December. And well.... you all were right, the weather hit me but I made the best of it and made it home safe.

Many of you had asked about it and I thought it would be a great idea to share it. I was going to send it via postal mail the way I got it but then some of you said hold onto it till riding season and we can hand it off to each other. It's a great way to put a face to a username (and might help kill some drama lately).

I don't know about most of you but my riding season this year never stopped (remember my trip to the Canadian Border on 1/8 and it snowed on me 18 miles from the marker?...I made it though. 4 inches of snow and slush but I made it.)

But the season is now here and I'm willing to go up to 200 miles one way. I'd love to see this thing travel the US and Canada, make it's way back to me, so I can send it back to John as a huge thank you. Yes, you can buy this book but this particular one is not edited for the US so this one is special.

I'm in Londonderry, NH.
Who's first?

When you are finished with it, sign it somewhere and date it with where you are located. Come back to this thread and post you are ready to hand it off. As always pics of meets will be required! ;)

Thank you John, and thank you HSN members in advance for your anticipated support in this.

Look at you guys.... :)
Planning pickups and drop offs already.

Um.... I can't go THAT far south (though I'd love to) so someone closer has to be...FIRST.
Anyone....anyone... Beuller? Beuller?

I will be travelling to Virginia (Lyndhurst/Danville) come June 3rd, then I plan on moving on to Townsend, TN around June 9th. I used goggle maps and it appears that Canyon and I are about 450 miles from each other ....if it would be possible to arrange a meet somewhere around Plattsburg, New York, I could take the book with me to Virginia and arrange to meet someone to pass it on to. If that doesn't work out, perhaps I could take it on to TN and pass it on to someone in that area. The best time for me to do this would be the weekend of May 19th....let me know if you think we can work something out.

Di
I have a club ride on May 19th so I won't be able to go then. But so far you're the closest (though you profile says you are in Canada???) I don't care who gets it when or how long they have it and where it goes. I'm hoping to goes and goes and goes then finds its way back to me.

May 20 I could do though. ;) Unless someone else can do something sooner? No offense Di, just a long way away.

LOL....Yes, I am in Canada, just across the border 1/2 hour from Alexandria Bay/Clayton Area..........yes I could do May 20th....so if no on else comes forward or is closer, shall we start it off? Looks like I'd be about 250 miles from High Point, North Carolina...maybe we could meet up somewhere inbetween like.......the Dragon! :) Hopefully this all works out :).....I'm sure it will, one way or another, but I would like to participate..........

Di
If you are in Canada you should swing by on your way. Why make me go south? :p

If you want to send it south I'm a closer start, Could meet up with the member from Connecticut to get it moving, Met up with our own Crazy Dave when you where on Vaca (not on the bike though) But would love to meet up at some point.

Dauntae
Dauntae, let me know when works for you. Hopefully next weekend? You seem to be closest and can get this moving the soonest.

I would plan on reading it though.
I would hope anyone who takes it would also take the time to read through it before they passed it along.

I see this has become a stickie too, thanks to whomever did that. Now let's get this book/bike party started!!

Say Hi for us. Too bad this wasn't 7-8 months from now, we could try to make you the last guy with the book.

Heads up boys and girls....

Dauntae & I are postponing the Book's maiden voyage across the North American Continent by 6 days. That's right, you are all going to have to wait til Saturday 4/28 now. Why? Because Honda was nice enough to afflict my bike with the dreaded (and oddly common) Steering Neck Bearing failure. I'm tearing the front end of my bike off this Saturday to replace the bearings and while at it putting new Metz 880 sneakers on her. This will be an all day event (for me) and I don't want to rush the job for our meet on Sunday.

Plus he's got some story about "someone" not being able to make a 75 mile one way trip on a motorcycle and would rather take the cage... ;)

There's the bad news.

Now the good news. We haven't made up our minds on where to meet yet but it will be somewhere in Taxachussetts....

I'm at A, he's at B. The Green looks doable. Any other members up for a meet-n-greet in the green on 4/28? I have no clue where so I'm posting for opinions. All are welcome, but he goes home with the book.

Too bad the book isn't starting its journey today, would have been fitting seeing how I've been a member here for 1 year today.

My tech day didn't go as planned, the bike was int he air literally all day but she's rode worthy now. Better to be safe than sorry and postpone the ride until next weekend. Besides, it's raining here and I have less than 50 miles on my new tires too.

Dauntae did we finalize any plans or times to meet up on Saturday? I may or may not have a new VTX friend coming along. Anyone else "in the area" want to meet up for a meet & greet??

Done deal, not even gonna look. I'm never concerned with milage... I ride ti ride :) My only concern is keeping the Mrs happy but since Google Latitude, she can keep an eye on me and stop the worrying.

Seeing how it's a BBQ place i say we make it a lunch meet. Need to find out how popular this place is and when the crowds are there.

1375 Washington St. West Newton, MA 02465 - Google Maps
Who else is in? I'm thinking between 1-2?? Woohoo!

Ratings look good too. I love pulled pork but I have to say that dish I had in Texas with TXShadow49 (Johnny) is hard to beat!

I have mine on just to see who calls on the GPS, I don't take calls and I dont stop to return them unless it's the wife with a certain code, but now she knows better to txt if it's not important and I will get back to her at a stop sometime.

I am running with a new local group now, all VTXs. I will be riding south with them in the morning then headed to Newton. Some may come or I'll be alone. When I find out what's up for the morning I will have a better idea if I will be closer to 1 or 2. We are all just getting together for an inspection sticker ride. I'm going for the ride, my bike is already tagged. So if I need to leave early on them, I will.

Getting ready to fire up Google Maps& Base Camp to plan a nice route! :D

The journey of the book has begun
This is Dean (Toadshoney) and Dauntae (Bruce)

We all met at the Blue Ribbon BBQ.

Where there wasn't much place to sit and enjoy the food.

And the food wasn't to shabby...

Dean took a bunch of pics so we'll have to wait for them. I was nice to meet you guys and your better half there Dauntae.

Enjoy the book and pass it on.

I just PM'd Dean (Toadshoney) about trying to meet up Saturday if we can work out the times, Hopefully we get the book moving and down to you for the 2nd.

Dauntae
I'd like to see it moving a little quicker too. Let's try to get the Northern states before the white fluffy stuff starts coming down again. It can spend the winter down south.
