There's a light 20 miles from where I live but I think it's a 10 minute ride plus a 3 hour walk....

This is the lighthouse I was actually targeting. I took the pic below back in '09 or '10.

I actually had to drive past this light to get to the one I pictured earlier in the thread. Somehow I was so focused on the road and my great driving skill that I missed any signage, and drove a lot more miles than I should've done.

Oh well, the roads were fun

This is the "Island Bay Light House", now a place you can rent for a holiday. I don't know if it ever was a working light house or just something built to look like one (I couldn't find the history with a little bit of searching)

Just in case, the next one is a real functioning light house - if you define "light house" as "a structure that houses a navigational light". If you define "house" as "houses people" then you're SOL in this case, or need to go on one heck of a diet!

Next up - with a couple of rules (sorry Coop!) A house with a quirk/oddity in it's design that is relevant to the location, eg this one which is next door to the light above (my bike wasn't moved - yes very convenient - but I did ride a good 20+ miles to reach it, and in fact taking these pictures put at least 80 miles on the bike (I also did tour Wellington's coast for the first time in my life )

The rules :
1) In keeping with the thread's idea of getting out and riding, the house cannot be in your town/city. For those in very large cities, I'll accept not in your suburb with a minimum 30 minute ride to the location (so sorry, no riding over to the truck-shaped garage that's in your neighbour's yard )
2) The quirk must fit the area or similar sort of relevance (eg a boat sticking out of a house on a beach)

Let me just say that if my neighbor had a rocket sticking out of his house, not only would he be in violation of the deed restrictions, but that is as far as I would ride. There just aren’t many houses with rockets in them here in Houston. :serious:

Lighthouse was the previous tag. The current tag is a house with a feature that is uniquely relevant to the area in which it is located, or something along those lines. I think the poster has seen the error of their ways though and is going to come up with an alternate.

I don't think it's an error, kinda similar to the first one I grabbed in some respects (which I had to ride 200 miles to do and no one else grabbed )

I've found a pile of places that could get the tag just by spending a few seconds with Google, but it may be a lot more common in this area. In this case (being an area with a little bit of water around it) I searched "nautical theme house Wellington" and picked one of the results. Tomorrow I'll ride 20 miles to get the shot and get a couple of others while I'm out there

I wont be able to go riding till Tuesday, getting a lot of rain for the last week. I know where I can get a picture of a house made of coal then.

That could be cool to see!

I'll do my ride tomorrow as planned but I'll hold off posting to give someone else a chance to get the tag.

Error only in the sense you have to remember it is wintertime for those of us north of the equator, so you can’t get too peculiar. Heck, I called a Pho/Vietnamese restaurant, and ended up changing it to something simple for the same reason.

I often forget that many bikers don't ride in conditions less than bright sun and 90+deg >

Only a light fall really. Heaviest in the area in decades, but light on a global scale... My mate did complain about being asked to give me a hand turning the bike around on his driveway which turned to ice by the time I was ready to leave.

if I would of went riding last week I would of got washed away it flooded here. they had to close the flood gates in town. that only been done twice that I can remember in the last 20 years.

We've got cyclone GIta hitting the area atm, though not really where I am. I have some rain (farm boy so what I call "light drizzle" townies call "Oh GOD! The world is ENDING!") and a gentle breeze (townies call that "severe gale" - they have no idea what real weather is!). There has been damage outside of my immediate area, and given the excitement of a couple of the neighbours I think part of the hill isn't where it used to be (minor slip thus far, no one needing to dig anything out till after the storm clears - thus far, but I have my slicks by the door ready). I'd still ride in this, but not for fun nor willy-waving, I'd have to have a damned good reason for it.

Nothing as bad as you, and I hope it stays that way!

We do have "Presidential highway" named after Clinton and Gore (which, surprisingly, runs between the towns of Clinton and Gore) - but alas I don't have money either for the plane or the ferry, let alone enough gas money to get all the way down south

People loose interest when only 1% of the people here can even posibly get a tag and even then taking weeks to get it. We used to be able to have lots of fun getting tags almost daily.

Hasn't been one I could even think about getting in a long time.

I had to wait a while for my first one, and that only involved a 200 mile trip out to get it. Not everyone can get every tag, and that can make it more interesting/challenging. I had all but lost interest when I saw one I could get at a pinch, if the caller accepted it (since we don't have "states" over in NZ).

Not every one will get every tag, that's fine. When it's your guys summer it'll be my winter, and I'll be the one wondering if it's worth the risk of riding to grab a tag. Fine with that as well, coz at least it'll give me an excuse to get off my backside and ride

I can't think of anything local that'd let me get the current one, but when I can get one I'll make the next one quite simple
