I have an opportunity to trade my 1998 600VLX and $1K for a 2002 Magna VF750. Both have around 23k miles. The Magna has a Corbin seat and Vance&Hines exhaust. I have been itching for some more power but can’t decide if I should go with the Magna or hold off and wait for a good deal on an Sabre (I know they are completely different animals). I appreciate opinions on whether or not this is a good deal.

It is all personal taste. Great bikes, most owners adore them but if you can't afford to do or pay for maintenance on a four-banger, you might be better off with a twin. Looks like a very nice deal but considere it from all angles.

The Magna is more of a canyon carver and love to be wound out, but until it's outfitted properly it's not comfortable for a long haul ride. I'm only 5'5" on a good day and I find I'm wanting highway pegs, a more comfy seat, etc. It'll be comparable in comfort to the VLX (maybe a little more so). Between my old VT1100 and the Magna, I could ride the VT1100C all day in comfort (stock seat, stock peg locations, but upgraded to different bars for more comfort). But the trade off was worth it to me. I love my Magna!

So you need to decide what your priorities are. On the other hand, you can get the Magna and then decide if you'd rather have the Sabre. :mrgreen: :lol:

The Magna is a good deal more capable than the VLX. Honda no longer manufactures the Magna, so parts may be increasingly difficult to obtain.

I have had both bikes. I. Sold my magna and bought my sabre. Imo the sabre was a better bike.

I've had the pleasure of owning both. It's apples and oranges. The magna has the torque, power and speed of a power cruiser while the VLX is a comfortable, easy handling cruiser. I miss my magna but with my ACE now, I don't miss my VLX.

OT, We Trudge on: That's a Triumph Rocket III you posted. Did you give up the Valkyrie?

I've ridden an older (84) Magna with a custom seat. Very low, flickable, Smooth power and lots of it. LOTS of it. Definitely a different animal from it's 2 cylinder counterparts. I'd go for it.

I'd go for it. You can always sell the Magna later, and get a Sabre if you decide you want one. The Magna is worth more than the VLX, so even though you have to put out some cash now the Magna will be worth more later if you end up selling it, and going for the Sabre.
