I have an 06 Aero with 1500 miles, new mustang seat with backrest, sissy bar, memphis shades windscreen, hondaline light bar, hondaline saddle bags and engine guard with some bits and pieces of chrome I have added.

thinking of upgrading so I am curious what price I should be shooting for when I get asked "how much you want for it?"

any Ideas?

btw.. the signiture picture is what she looks like now. :D

Try here, it seems to be faily close to actual. Nice bike.

Unfortunately X, you likely won't get 20% out of the accessories you put on the bike. Some folks have even sold their aftermarket stuff on ebay and put the stock stuff on the bike to resale since a stocker & a decked out bike might sell for only $500 difference. You have that in your seat alone.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news :? However, you get to get a new bike
Like Kingham said, you won't really get anything for the aftermarket parts on trade in. Any ideas on what your planning to upgrade to?

I've thought occasionally about "upgrading", but every time I go looking, while I love the new bikes, I still haven't found anything that makes me want to spend the money on it, and that's been 10 years. Maybe one day.

I sold mine in August with 1000 miles, sissy bar, engine bars, bags and a four year warranty for $5700. I thought I took a hit on it, but I turned around and got a loaded VTX1300 R for $7200.

If you could wait 3-4 months you can probably get a better price.

Good luck,

Beck
thanks for all the great help and advice!

do any members here on the forum buy bikes if I put it up for sale? just wondering... seems like I would probably be asking 6k for my bike . I would assume that the person would want to be near by to pick it up etc...

I am in milwaukee , WI

still deciding on a new bike but I have a few options... once I get the list pared down a bit I will post them for ya if you are interested.
oh and I would be waiting like 3 months or so. no point in selling anything unless I can buy and ride the new bike .. LOL

I figure spring will make my ability to get the best price possible.

just a few more months... I just wanted to ask ahead of time so I had a good sense of what to expect in price and where to ask or post for sale etc...

If you are interested in it... send me a Message!
X,

I see that you have the bike posted over in the for sale section. that is a great place to show it, since lots of folks look over there.

Just out of curiosity, why do you want to upgrade after only 1,500 miles after you bought the bike new. I am really not trying to be sarcastic, but I am surprised that you can tell you need to upgrade after so few miles. Genuinely asking.
I would be glad to answer that. ok so lets see I am 6' 3" and 220lbs. I have been test riding other bikes and friends bikes since I got mine and I have noticed a few things.
1. I am feeling a bit cramped as my legs are pretty long on the bike.
2. When I go on the highway at about 75mph I dont have alot left in the throttle to be able to pass or avoid things by speeding up.
3. Even with the Mustang seat I have I still have been getting lower back pain after loger rides and I dont seem to get that on my friends bikes. I woudl attribute that to my more scrunched up sitting position.

4. I am starting to gravitate to more sport bikes and more specifically a sport touring bike like the BMW RT/KT or the FJR 1300. for some reason I am more comfortable on them than a standard cruiser.

its all about me getting my first bike after passing the MSF then deciding what I really would like and figuring out my true style of riding and type of bike I like as well. I figure it cost me a bit to buy the Aero but I would not have bought a new BMW as my first bike from a cost and displacement perspective. the Aero is a great bike to start in for me but as I rode it more and more I noticed that I wasnt thinking of it as the Only bike for me.

I have been toying around with upgrading etc since about Mile 1000 on the bike . about mid summerish...

Thanks X, all great reasons.
That's the best arguement I've ever heard for buying a used bike, esp. for first bike.

I think that was about when my Mustang seat really started feeling good, lol.

having a 750 aero myself, just wondering what you were upgrading to, and why? ps $6500 easy, for price.
what size and type of windshield do you have on your aero? looks like a good fit, and i am sizing up windshields currently for my 750 aero, and we are about the same height. thanks.

I have a Memphis shades 19" on the bike. works pretty well and the shield line is under my nose so it doesnt interfere with my vision.

True but when I passed my MSF I could not find any used bikes that I felt safe riding and or did not need some work. I felt I would get a best first experience by having a new bike that is under warranty etc...

I am a bit of a snob when it comes to material goods too. I like new things that I know are all mine.
I dunno why.

I am currently look at a FJR1300 I was looking at the Honda ST1300 but I am liking the fit of the FJR alot better for me.

I am going to the Motorcycle show in Chicago on Feb 11th. It should hlep me sit on a few more touring and sport touring bikes and help me decide.

6500? you interested? :D
