my tire has a whole 750 miles on it....and a bolt in it, is it safe to plug it, or replace the tire like the dealership says ?

Here's my 2 cents worth:

Order of preference:

1. Replace the tire (the dealer is right)

2. Have the tire repaired from the inside (then order a new tire and put it on)

3. Plug it and immediately order a new tire and have it installed.

Wow, this will have as many opinions as the helmet debate. I don't know what to tell you, we all have our level of risk from riding helmetless to plugging tires.

Sometimes you can get them repaired with a patch from the inside, a plug (the mushroom type) are pretty good. But you only have two contact points on the ground so if one goes needlessly flat that is a bummer and risky.

looks like what I'm gonna do, the dealership said since they will be doing the 600 mile service anyway, they'll do the tire for cost plus labor, as long as I agree to bring my work to them next time....sounds reasonable.
