Hello All, up for a new rear tyre on my VT750C Shadow 2010 shaft drive, anyone put a 170/80/15 on, does it affect the handling,trying to lower my revs when cruising, standard tyre is 160/80/15.Thanking you for your replies Cutfinger.

one word... Metzeler. the 880's are awesome tires.

That would give you roughly 8mm in side wall height difference with 10mm wider. does anyone know how that would calc. out in gearing gain

Math majors would need to check my numbers but...

I'd guess he'd drop about 60rpm @ 2K, ie: used to do 2K, now would run at 1940 rpm. On a flat it should also mean about a nearly invisible 3% increase in mpg but that gain would be lost on grades where reduced mechanical advantage means making your motor works harder and you are putting more fuel into it to maintain a static speed.

Be sure and check tire clearances before making the leap to a bigger unit.

This ain't my strong suit....it is just a guess and my opinion is worth what you paid for it - zilch.
