Warming temps!

457 Views 6 Replies 5 Participants Last post by  "Captain D"
Today reached 45 degrees, so after work I fired up the ACE! The days are getting longer now and spring is just around the corner. What is the lowest comfortable temperature to ride in? Any ideas out there on how to remove the odd things that get melted by the exhaust? Merry Christmas!

Welcome...
I let things finish burning whenever I get too close to the exhaust with meltable stuff...
OR I use the knife blade at an angle to remove after it has cooled...
Downfall for rising temps here is RAIN!!!

Same thing here in central Alabama & I do believe you meant "Darn Rain!!!
I'm a new rider, but over time I have gotten used to riding to work and back in temps of high thirties and mid forties. It's kind of like snow skiing, the fun of riding and skiing puts the cold out of your mind.
Merry Christmas to you too.
I don't think there is a single range of comfortable temps for riding. Any temp can be comfortable or uncomfortable depending on what you are wearing. I don't think North Carolina produces weather that's so cold that extra layers and hand warmers won't stop the chill. In my limited experience, if I am cold, I need another layer or warmer clothes or some face protection. If I'm getting too warm, rarely in the winter, I remove a layer. So 10 degrees and higher can be made comfortable if you are willing to take the time.
But people will still tell me, "it's too cold to be riding a motorcycle". I've been saying something like, "aw, it's not too bad if you bundle up" but what I really think is "bad weather on a bike is better than any weather in my car" but that sounds like crazy talk so I usually keep that to myself.
That's right and I agree. It is supposed to be near the fifties for Xmas in NY, though with rain as well. But, if the roads aren't bad, and I get the urge...that new bike is goin' down the road for a test run!
Hopefully this foggy, wet, darn rain will be gone from here Christmas day...
I hope everyone gets to ride soon :D

Merry Christmas
