I have a 1985 Honda Shadow vt700 with 32k and was wondering what oil weight i should be using? After doing a compression check the rear cylinder is off compared to the front( front 160psi rear 140psi) If I ran a thicker oil say 20w50 would it make a difference or be better for the engine being it has some wear. After Reading around on here I will probably switch to using Rotella or 20w50 if a thicker oil is better in my situation!

Check out the sticky "Oilology" given above. I would stick with 10-40. Your compression readings are within norms. Just change oil and filter on a regular basis and you'll be fine. Download a manual for your bike from the sticky section found in the general disc. section, they're priceless!
