Get an angled valve stem.

Guy at the local bike shop recommended it and holy crap! I might finally be able to get an airhose on it now without the drum being in my way!

Yup. We always specify angle stems for our tube tires on the back. Assume angle stems are available for tubeless but donno for sure. Another tidbit, tubes are available in heavy duty versions but I never buy them; while it would make installation more reliable, can't see any virtue after that.

I ordered a new tire and tube and made sure to get the angle... I only ever found one tire gauge that would fit onto that rear tire before.

You can buy 90 degree valve stem adapters to screw on when checking pressure/adding air. My dad keeps one in his bags as the rear tire on his Goldwing is pretty much impossible to get at without them. Only cost a couple of bucks if I recall correctly.

I prefer these style 90° stems WITHOUT a nut at the inside of the wheel. Probably available in 45° too.
