Is there a way to be sure which model my Shadow is? 1995 VT1100c? It's shaft drive and I believe 5 speed.
Rear fender:
o If it wraps around the back of the tire then you've got a VT1100C2 aka A.C.E.
o If it goes straight back from the top of the tire with a little upward curl at the end then you've got a VT1100C aka Spirit.

Also the rear brake: ACE has disc and Spirit has drum.
Plus ACE has spoke wheels and Spirit has cast ones.

Can't go all the way back to 1995 but this side-by-side of 1999s captures the comparison.

just to point out cause i had this confusion with mine in 95 it was not a spirit it was a standard spirit came out in 97 it is the same bike through and through as the standard though so its rather a moot point

and op you will find if your model number and year is correct (vt1100c 1995) it will be the standard with 4 speed not 5 we got gyped lol great bike though you will love it
