Almost seems like the car making the left on that side of the intersection created a blind spot.. It's sometimes better to be covered if you notice them.. For example, use a car to your left as a shield from a broadside which could possibly come from the left..

Occasionally I'll be caught in the same position going through an intersection, but I'll go real slow and strain to see if there's no cover and I encounter a blind spot.. Fools rush in etc..

I think in this case, the accident could have been avoided by paying attention to the nature of approaching cars to the intersection and a-little paranoia regarding blind-spots is never a bad thing.

Just my take on the whole thing.. :)

Sometimes good to watch these things.. Humbling.. Y'know.. I'll watch those motorcycle fail compilations on occasion too, see what I can learn.. Mostly it's a lot of no-brainer and idiotic stuff.. But occasionally, you can learn from these things..

Always a wake-up call, in any event..

Hey, he was looking back & forth for so long, I almost stopped watching before the crash. Attention didn't seem to be the problem. Trusting the car driver was attentive might have been a mistake. Let's not play high & mighty though, we have all been too close for comfort.
I don't think it's as much about being high and mighty as much as pulling these things apart until we find a reason for the accident - so we don't find ourselves doing the same things..

The biker was in the right.. In such an accident the insurance will divvy up blame.. In this case it will likely be that the insurance company will allocate something like 1-5% blame on the biker..

That 1-5% is what ends bikers..

No good being even 100% in the right and in the hospital for it.. Best to learn what we can, discuss what could have prevented it, then hope we remember these discussions when we find ourselves in similar situations..

Like you say.. We have all had close calls.. Every-single last one of us... God knows I have and we have discussed those here too.. But I think we all learned something from those close calls.. It's not about judging to boost an ego.. More about analyzing these close calls to learn something from these unfortunate circumstances.

What do you think went wrong here? Poor steering technique, unable to tighten the turn? Went for the overtake while still in the turn?

Either way, that was one helluva dive!
Hard to see.. Almost Looks like she strayed outside her lane in the corner, couldn't pull in when the SUV closed in on her and had a choice of either headfirst into the SUV, or swerve straight into the embankment..

Corners can be fun, had a car one time come into my lane in a sharp corner (actually this seems to be a common thing and has happened a few times now), the first time though, my helmet came to within a couple of inches of that dudes paint..

Ever since that first time though, I expect a cage to stray into my lane in a corner and give them room enough to do so... ..To a reasonable degree anyway...

What doesn't kill you makes you smarter..
