Probably not a good idea. your ignition cdi was designed to power a coil with a certain resistance. pick the right one and would probably work. pick the wrong one and likely will kill the cdi. Is something wrong with your coils?

Yes you can. Without fear of damage. Just need to get the firing order correct. I run an accel coil pack from a 98 ford f-150 on my yamaha fzr600r. Works awsome

 

How close does the primary and secondary resistance need to be. Just bought the bike its a basketcase it is missing a coil finally did some rewiring and got some spark out of the coil that i have but before i spent allot of money on the correct coils i was wanting a cheap test for the icu's

 

I am in the process as we speak of putting a ford edis coil pack on my 86 shadow 700. Give me a few and i will tell you how it works out. I got a bad coil on mine and have a spare ford coil and wires laying around ( took it off my fzr600 when i got the accel)
