Cleaned aluminum wheels

I thought I would share how my wheels cleaned up on the VTX I've been working on. When I bought the bike about 8 weeks ago The previous owner thought the bike was in "real good condition" Well his idea of good and mine are much different. I don't need my bike to be "showroom perfect" but I do like it to be clean. I spent a lot of time scrubbing these aluminum wheels. Here is a before and after photo of the rear wheel. Not too bad considering what I had to start with.

I've always wondered if VTX, VT1100, or older VT500/VT600/VT700/VT750 Shadow rims, like Magnas, would fit and work on other Shadow bikes, like my '03 Spirit 750, that run the same or close size tires? I would imagine front rims would probably be pretty much the same, depending on the brakes, though I understand rear rims might be different, if chain drive verses shaft drive, but otherwise should be compatible, too. Am I right or wrong?

No clear coat. I have read that keeping a good coat of wax on them is as good as a clear coat. Sometimes better, as a clear coat can chip away or yellow in color. I read that a good coat of "Bee's wax" is a very good option. For now I'm just using some Maguire's Aluminum polish. Photos were taken before polish was applied. Polish seemed to help smooth the overall appearance.
