I've been looking into getting one, but am unsure about length and color right now. Anyone have any ideas on what length might be best?

Also, as far as color, I don't want to run afoul of any of the MC's out here, so I need to be cautious about that. I'm thinking blue/black and can't think of a single MC that flies those colors.

Mine is a 22` Lunge rope... That`ll will work...;)

OR a 6` lead rope will too...
:D

AND red is my color choice...

I saw a guy not long ago, and asked him what happened? when I saw his face cut up and a hand in a cast...
He said a construction barrel grabbed his rope, and snatched the handbares outta his hands...

Ride with one attached to your handlebars, IF you like!
I`ll keep mine for training the donkey...

Lets RIDE

I believe most are between 2-3' long, but I wouldn't get anything longer than that. I picked up an all black one at an 'auction', and it's about 34" or 35" long, but if I really lean in a corner, it will drag. It reaches just below my forward control peg from the brake lever, and if the wind is whipping really hard, it will slap me in the side. I would suggest going a little bit shorter, at least, probably no more than 26-28", I would say.

Other comments, though, have made me possibly rethink whether I want to keep this one or not.

yes i do have one grey and black and its panhord or something like that cord. i want to say mine is about 28'' i can measure it if you want. the fringe hanging off is only like 5inchs i dodnt want the fringe long like most are. it never really gets in the way when riding it comes to about seat height and no where near touches the ground

I think they're cool as hell but you better check with Johnny Law....

They are actually illegal in many states...

In Mississippi those little chains attached to your wallet are considered 'weapons'...

OMG a 4 inch chain ... deadly ...

I've got thigh slappers on my brake and clutch levers. No problems and they don't hit my thighs. But tend to catch attention of cagers on the road since the wind makes them move about. And they look cool with the bike just sitting. ;)
