98'-02' Aero and 95'-99' Ace have wire wheels and both are 18" dia. The 18" tire is also limited as to brands/size availability. The problem is neither doesn't share any parts on the front except wheel bearings. Not to say it won't work but $$$ spent? The Aero from 01'-02' is very much like the Sabre as they share the same motor variant and front fork style.

 

I can confirm what h13man said. I have a '97 Shadow ACE VT1100 and I could no longer fight off the rust (and cleaning spoked wheels are a pain in the . . .) so I switched out to a set of 2004 Sabre wheels. They fit perfectly.

 

Would like to do the same swap. I have a 2001 vt1100c3. An like to add the sabre rims??? Is this possible???? I could buy the rims from a local bike wreckers an save $$$$
