I got the LA choppers lowering kit (stock shock repositioner type) - i cant find any reviews on line - who here has done it and your thoughts?

mine is for the 03 750 shadow spirit - these are universal kit for several 750 models.

I did it.

Get a file and clear teh powdercoat off of bolt spacer/shim (the bit the stock bolt passes through) ends. ESPECIALLY on teh side that bolts to your final drive case.

Casually trying to tap-fit it in with a rubber mallet may prove to be an expensive mistake.

I have it on my bike, and in order for the brackets to fit where the bottom of the shocks mount to swingarm I had to use a dremel and sand the inside of the bracket in order for it to slide on the post. Once sanded they slid right on, a sanding drum for a dremel fits perfectly inside the bracket and gets it done pretty quickly I think I ended up using one drum for each bracket. It looks nice when done and significantly cheaper than progressives.

anyone with a 170 rear tire clearance issues on chain side?...i got them on and the right side has 1/4" or more clearance from fender frame to tire - the chain side only has 1/8" clearance fender frame to tire - nothing rubs too wet to ride it around did roll it around the driveway a little no issues that i can see - will report back after a few miles of riding.

I've had the scootworks kit installed for several years. I do scrape my footboards from time to time, and I also decided to replace the side stand with a shorter, custom unit. But no problems with the install or function of the scootworks units.

supposed to lower it 1.5 inches - i would beleive that - will pix mine when the weather gets better here.

Scootworks was too pricey for me.

Pics of mine in the "Bruised Bagger" thread.

Drops the rear 1.5 Inches.

Resolved the kickstand issue by adding washers behind the mounting bolts.

Gila, not sure I follow on how you resolved your kickstand issue.... assume you mean the lowered bike didnt lean enough so you adjusted the stand somehow. My bike is slammed.... 1.5" scootworks brackets, another 1.5" of lowering in my progressives plus I just installed 4 deg raked trees which I tried to compensate for with some 2" fork extensions but its still even lower than it was with just the brackets and shocks on the back. Where did you put the washers to adjust your stand?

The scootworks kit I have dropped the bike about 1.5 inches although I think they may offer a 2 inch kit too (or used too). It has been so long ago I don't readily have before pictures. As mentioned before, you will almost definitely need to do something to address the kickstand angle or length.
