Oil light remains on - level is fine

I just serviced my 1998 Shadow VT1100C, changed the oil, filter, plugs and coolant.
Went on a 80 mile trip, the last 20 was rain.
The oil light came on during the last 5 miles of the trip.
I checked the oil level on the dipstick and it was fine, at the half way mark where I filled it to.
What do you guys reckon is the problem?

Are you checking it after warmup and drain down? Any chance it is a fuse or wire issue? How long was the interval between the previous oil change. That is an oil pressure light, not an oil volume, it could be reading wrong, or you could have gunked up some passages. But I would think its something simpler, like the sending unit or a loose wire. Check cheap and easy first. Do you have a manual. You need to confirm if the sending unit is working first, (after checking oil).

I checked it when it was warm after the ride.
Definitely plenty of oil in it.
Will check all wires when I get a chance.
My initial thought is that it is the sender unit.
Anyone ever change one of these before?

Idiot Light is for oil pressure not oil level.... It is a reference for oil level and can signal for too low and too high a level. But real purpose is pressure.
