1986 vt500c: Rear turn signal frustration

I've been trying to replace the rear turn signals on my vt500 for as long as ive had it. I've ordered bike master stems... they don't fit. i sent them back and just ordered some used/salvage units i found on ebay that look like the part i pulled off of the bike.

ordered and returned

I'm hoping they fit. Has anyone else had this issue?

I ordered stems for my fronts... from BikeMaster or K&S. They "fit" the mounting holes, and they "fit" the signal housings... but the hole to feed the wires through was VERY SMALL. My solution was to tie fishing line to each of the wires, and drag them through the opening one at a time... it worked, but was not exactly "quick and easy". The look, feel, outside-diameter, and mountings were spot on, for the ones I ordered.

Is the interior diameter what you were referring to as far as fitment? Or was there another issue with the mounting, length, etc.?

The mounting bolt was too long and too thick (geez, there's a quote). totally not made for the bike. i pulled off the stem that was still on the bike and compared them. they were 75% different. I'm going to start ordering part for cb series bikes they seem to fit.
