Brand new owner here. I just bought my 2002 vt750cd yesterday. It sat in a guys garage for 4 years. I'm wanting to learn how to work on it myself (at least things I can do) I noticed yesterday that the turn signals come on but do not blink. Suggestions? I had read non use can cause it and to check connections. I did put a brand new battery in it yesterday and got it charged. I'm thankful for any tips. I turn 40 this year and this was my present to myself. Picture of my "new" baby for fun

The blinker switch...the switch itself could be gummed up and not making proper contact. The switch is cleanable. It takes a little finesse to get into the switch, but is not hard to do. After cleaning, use "dielectric" grease to re-lube it.
That's the first place I would check...
Then...maybe start with the easy stuff and make sure the bulbs in the blinkers are all good and that they are properly seated in the sockets. The sockets should be clean and not corroded as well.
When you turn on the blinkers, does the indicator bulb light up? That bulb would be something else to check.
Lastly, the blinker relay could have gone bad...unlikely, but possible.
