Hey guys I'm looking for a diagram of the single carb that I have on my bike. I'm looking to adjust the mixture ratio and cant find the screws. I heard of drilling the caps? and anyone have a good screw set for sea level elevation with stock exhaust and stock air filter? Im in Socal at Oceanside if that helps with anything. Thank you for the help Im new to working on bikes and any information would help

I recently moved from 29 palms to Oceanside a considerably difference in elevation. also just replaced the petcock because it was leaking and now the bike wont start unless I twist the throttle a few times then start it and it runs for a few seconds. I think that it will need to be adjusted to sea level and the slow speed screw also could be clogged with some old gas.

Mix some up in a container, disconnect your fuel line upstream of the carb, drain your float bowl on the carb, close the drain screw, then pour it in the fuel line to fill your float bowl again, then let it sit a few days. I've brought old non running bikes back to life by filling the float bowl with straight seafoam and letting it then sit a few days, then draining and refilling with fuel before trying to start them. They don't always run well at first, but more often than not it will dissolve and pass any gunk. Sometime there's just no other way than to get into the carbs, but that shouldn't be the case with your bike, being a later model unless it's been mistreated or neglected.

sounds like a good plan ill get on it and I'll get back to you in a few days about what happened if it worked or not. any other ideas are welcome as well. and if anyone has any idea where the pilot screw is located that would be a lot of help too.

The mixture screw is for the idle mixture, and won't keep an engine from starting normally. But it will die out and not idle if there is a problem with the primary circuit. Concentrate on starting with fresh fuel first. Seafoam is a great product.

Here is a diagram and the mixture screw location.

ok guys so im back and I drained the seafoam out and crossed m fingers then added some fresh gas to the carb via tube and gave her a twist or two and started it but it was just for a split second. so it doesnt stay running/idling anyone got any ideas what could be wrong? should i get to pulling the botom part of the carb off to get to the jets ? or am I just ultimately screwed? im just trying to get out on the road and ride but im on a budget and im not trying to take it in to a shope to get it fixed, I can do the work myself I just need to know what to do. In dire need of help please and thank you

It ran fine at a higher elevation. when I replaced the petcock I left the tank off and after I soaked the carb in seafoam I drained it and then filled the gas tube with fresh gas, no tank on or intake box on and then tried to start it and the same thing was happening.

Put the airbox on and hook up your fuel tank. They don't run well with the airbox off. Also, when you start it, use the choke as needed until warmed up.

2000 feet should not change it, I run both my bikes from sea level to 4000+ feet in the mountains here fine.FSM says high altitude is above 6500 ft.Have you taken the fuel line off the carburetor and checked fuel(clogged filter) flow( look for pinched/kinked/split line), with key on if you have a fuel pump(it might not work). What petcock did you use?
