Hmmm... Anyone use this? Do diesels have wet clutches?

*4.4L of premium diesel oil with Triple Protection technology

*Recommended in all types of over-the-road service, diesel powered equipment, off-highway applications where a premium quality engine oil is desired

*Designed to be used in pick-up trucks, sport-utility vehicles (SUVs), and mini-vans

*Meets or exceeds the service requirements of virtually all diesel engine manufacturers, for both the latest 2007- emission compliant and older engines

*5W40 weight in 4.4L size
"Extreme pressure" most likely means it contains molybdenum, just like axle grease, and I think that's a clutch slippage contributor.

I just use the plain Shell Rotella 15W-40 and change it often (3,000 miles).

The reason for my frequent changes is because the factory service manual diagram for the lubrication indicates the only oil actually running through the filter goes to the conn rods, valves, main bearings on the crank. The transmission bearing oil is unfiltered. That means clutch lining material from clutch wear goes through the transmission bearings, as well as any combustion blow-by and condensation.

Using synthetics and only changing your oil every 8,000 or more miles allows the contaminants to accumulate even though the oil molecules don't break down.

Changing the oil in my Dodge Dakota 4.7L has kept it running like a top for 235,000 miles and it doesn't put out any oil smoke at all. And that is with just cheap dyno-juice!

Just my $0.02 worth...
+1 If you change your oil frequently I have not seen any evidence synthetic is better...Maybe at 80K miles the results of using synthetic will reveal itself but my bike will have probably had 4 owners by then.....LOL
