Hello, Anyone have the VE carb body diagram? Removing the third time to cleanup. (Running rich and waiting for the 'D' tool so I can check/adjust the a/f screw as well).

In the meantime planning to ensure all the passages are clear as well in the body. Anyone have any diagram/pdf for the VE carbs? Its for the single carb-VLX 600. Tried searching around and cant find one. Wondering similar to FSM, if there is any carb level service manual. I'm reading some of the passages are one way valves and wondering how to check this. Hoping my previous cleanup didnt mess anything with these kind of valves and the carb cleaner didnt damage any internal seals/washers if any.

When compressed air checking the passages, wanted to know which ones to test and where to expect it flowing out.

Thanks

Your air/fuel screw (#5) on the carb should be slotted. The "D" shaped tool is used for carb synch adjustment for more than 1 carb. There might be a aluminium plug over the A/F screw to protect it. Drill a hole in it for a sheet metal screw and pull it out if it exist.

@swifty2014 Thanks for suggestion, but once fixed and runs, I don't want to mess with that again. Also I don't want to add another new item into already unknown puzzle.

@h13man That's what is causing some confusion. Some sites list the slotted photos and some have the D screw. Something like this:

Said that don't know if the PO or anyone replaced it with something aftermarket which is now making it run rich. Anyways I've ordered the All balls racing 26-1604 carb kit to replace what is necessary. I already replaced the float valve with K&L. Not much difference. Opted to go after market since some parts in OEM has a long wait time and pricing is bit high.

The bike does show a D one. This is the actual photo.

Honda switched to these somewhere along the way to keep it legally tamper resistant, when they quit capping the idle mixture screw.
A lot of Honda things are a running revision/change with suppliers, so it's hard to nail down precisely when the change occurred.
AFAIK by the time Honda went to the 750 Aero in 2004 they were all like this.

I went looking through my info to find such a thing and couldn't find anything beyond what is in the Honda service manual for the bike.
I don't believe in the bare body there are any one way check valves, there are passages that are capped off after casting and machining, but that is normally just to allow manufacture.
If there were hidden valves in the passages I can't image Honda would suggest blowing them out with compressed air in the manual.

The 750 Aero uses a very similar carburetor and the service manual is a little bit better than the VT600 one, but also doesn't have a passage schematic.

On a side note, be careful using compressed air, too much pressure/volume can blow out pressed in tubes and plugs or just physically break out passages.
You just want just enough pressure to verify passage flow, not to clean it of a major obstruction.
Also wear safety glasses, sometimes a passage doesn't come out where you think it comes out.

THANK YOU! @CSRoad

For pointing me to the ACE 750 manual. It helped me pinpoint the issue. I believe in the cleaning process I lost the needle jet. The VLX single carb manual doesn't even point this part out. Page 5-14. I was able to point that out from the Aero 750 Carb diagram in page 5-15.

The parts diagram does have it, but as part #2 which includes both needle and jet as one 'set' for which most internet pictures were just pointing the needle & I did have that. I had a photo of the Carb before removing apart and from adjusting the brightness of the picture I can clearly see the jet was there before removal and not there around anymore.

I'm thinking I lost this on the air cleaning step somehow. Aargh!!! I was cleaning up in the backyard and there is no remote chance I will find it back. (Even if so without damage).

The part is not expensive, but its back-ordered until November! I don't think I have this bike running for this season! Hopefully this will sort this out and get the bike back on road.

Any reason why no third party manufactures the 'Needle Jet'. When I browse through every one supplies almost everything. All jets, screws, springs.. even the needle, but not the needle jet. They even supply the needle jet holder/emulsion tube.

Crazy I have to wait 3 months for this part. Honda dealer has a rough delivery estimate of November 1st week!!
