Hello all,
I am needing to move my handlebars up and back toward me in a bad way, it is killing my back as I have to reach forward too much.
I have read through most forums and it seems that Scootworks was the only place that made the riser extensions for my bike. I can’t seem to contact them so I guess they are out of business.
My plan is to cut my permanent risers off the bar and purchase some new ones. Can anyone tell me exactly what brands and types they have used when doing this? And, if they had to purchase new cables. My hope would be to raise them a couple of inches and pulled back two or three. All help and suggestions are appreciated, thanks.

You should be able to raise the stock bars a few inches and pull them back a few inches with stock cables and wiring, you may need to re-route them through the triple tree in a more efficient manner but if you only want 2-4" up and 2-4" back then you'll be totally fine with stock lines/controls. Perhaps you just need entirely new risers, or new handlebars.

If you drill the stock riser bushings out to 1/2" you can use Harley style risers with a 1/2-13 threaded bolt, which gives you nearly endless choices to find what suits your needs.

2006 Aero haz integral risers. Albeit, shrimp, you might have mentioned that. Don't know where Scootworks went. Seems they disappeared into thin air, but they did have various aftermarket product for shadows that weren't readily available elsewhere. Kawasaki vulcan has a similar 2 inch riser extentions, here. but whether they work I dunno due to the shape of Aero's risers (second pic).

Those riser extensions you show in the first picture are exactly what I need. I wonder why no one else has taken to making these? I believe my best bet would be to cut the welded risers off and purchase a regular set of risers that are a few inches longer than stock. I was hoping someone had already done this and could share which risers they had used.
Thanks

Scootworks / Scootmods seemed to stop making both the Aero and Phantom riser extensions, they used to be on eBay and Amazon but they're out of stock for months now.

Plenty of options for you, with some tinkering and extended hardware I think you should be able to pretty easily make some spacers after getting longer bolts if you don't want to chop the stock mounts off the bars you have, if you have a good metal shop anywhere around you they should have some thick wall tubing and the ability to cut it to equal lengths, call around.

You could also buy some Harley bolt-on risers and use the outside riser portion only, then figure out your own bolt/hardware.

Realistically though before you modify everything just know that you can buy a set of used older Aero or Ace bars pretty cheap that will have a similar profile to your current bars but will take regular 1" dia bolt-on risers. I picked up a set of stock ACE bars for $20 recently.

Hello folks, I went with the method someone else had done or recommend. I cut the original risers, grinded them down and installed some used spirit risers. I had to locate the cables behind the tree and everything seems to work fine with the exception of the throttle not wanting to return when fully turned to the right. I can live with that. Much more comfortable!
Thanks for all the help.

Awesome!

I have a question on the amount of rubber bushing on the risers. Is this durable in the long term? Again, just a question. Usually thickness in the bottom pic.

That I can not answer but, they are factory Honda risers and bushings. Therefore they can be replaced I guess. They currently are very tight with no movement. If you look at the picture of just the risers, you can see the that the rubber washer mainly goes around and over the very bottom end of the riser where its smaller. Theres really not that much rubber.

I can answer this one, it's actually the top triple tree clamp that is different. On a Spirit it has a deeper recess in the riser mounting holes with deeper lower bushings so it appears the bushings are installed differently when it's actually the top triple tree that is slightly different.
