Scratched my cylinder head deck... Now what/Options?

So, during my epic 2.5 hour tear down (fast for me) of my front cylinder, I had a dowel get stuck in my cylinder head. I tore up the dowel getting it out (no worry I can get another for $1.57), but also scratched up the head deck. Happened when I was rotating the dowel with pliers so its a circular shaped scratch that touches the area of the combustion seal, skips the center of the coolant passages, the reappears just in time to cross the coolant seal to the outside of the cylinder.
My hot rod buddy tells me I need to have it decked by 0.020"
My thoughts got as crazy as JB welding and some precision dremeling - Really horrible coming from a former head gasket engineer.
But in my former role as a head gasket engineer, I only dealt with manufacturing surface finishes and scratches were never an issue I had to deal with.
Would be nice if anyone knew the piston to valve clearance on a 83 750 to know how close I'll come to contact by taking 0.020" (~0.5mm) off...
I can upload pics over the weekend probably if that's helpful.

Already bought gaskets and thicker head gaskets are not available (if they ever were), but good idea though.
I'm thinking I could come up with a piston to valve clearance if I sketched out the dimensions... Or I could install the cam, rockers and valve (no springs) and take measurements too... Now you've got me thinking...
