Hey, the subject line got your attention, didn't it? :)

In all seriousness now, the days that it's just too danged hot to wear gloves, my hands sweat and the grips of my bike get really sticky. Is it just because they're 7 years old (it's a '99) and I can replace them to fix the problem, are there aftermarket grips to replace them with, or am I just gonna have to suffer with gloves? (I know I should wear them all the time, but in 100 degree heat in Florida i'm doing good with jeans & boots.)

I have some gloves (armored) by FLIGHT and while they look hot however they let a lot of air flow thru them, and the sweat actually cools nicely.

You can wash off sweat, you can wipe off sweat, you can't do either with road-rash.

There are lots of good hot-weather gloves. No reason not to wear them.

I picked up some vented gloves at a local Suzuki dealer. They are fantastic and were quite cheap. I've worn them in 97-degree heat with minimal sweating.

I agree with the others. If you look around, you should be able to find something that works.

Cheers, D-Mac

Sure there is... so you dont end up with white hands and red arms.

I take mine off when i notice it looks like i have white gloves on when in reality i dont have anything on my hands. Usually 30 minutes under good sun will even my coloring out.

ICON makes good thin air vented gloves. Black with the big skull on the backside. $20 at most places.

Summer aka Vented Gloves.

I used to run gloveless in the heat of summer.
Some one emailed an article (with ER pics. yuck) written by an EMS responder.

The gist of the article was about a MC accident in which the victim literally bled to death through the palms of his hands. He was wearing a helmet, jacket, etc. (nearly ATGATT).

Apparently he put his hands out to prevent the skidding after he went down at speed. The abrasion (road rash) removed enough skin from his palms that he lost enough blood to end his life.

I'll find the article and post it here...W/O pics. they were graphic.

FWIW I use the Alpinstars S-MX6 gloves. actually cooler than no gloves in this So. Texas heat. Try it you'll like it. They're cheap and safe http://liteurl.com/?8452

I've only witnessed the 'gradient' effect myself.

There was a thread on a forum (not this one) some years ago started by a guy who went down without his gloves. He took a long slide in some coarse gravel and basically ground his fingers to nothing. He committed suicide about a year later due to depression. His final posts were filled with laments and frustration because he couldn't touch his wife, hold his kids, or get a job that supported his family.

Of course, tan lines are important too.

For summer riding I feel like I have better feel and grip wearing my gloves. They are tour master fingerless with some mess in a few places and reinforced leather and gel in others. They cover all but the last little joint or so. I love them.

Actually they SCRUB it (road rash) off with really fine STEEL WOOL.

Yeah, complain about the heat.

Okay I found some icon motorsports gloves at a local bike shop today.. $30... cheaper than new grips and better for my the life of my hand's longevity.

So much cooler than those damn leather things.. the only thing I don't like is the snap right at the base of the palm.. it seems that if I fell and caught myself that it would dig right into my palm/wrist, so I think i'm gonna rip it out with pliers.

They kinda look like crotch rocket gloves but these colors aren't bad at all...

I have them. They're decently cool, but honestly in a get-off, I worry whether certain parts would hold up. Mostly the areas between the fingers, so unless you land really, really oddly, things should be fine.

$.02
