I think the trooper could have gotten off (in a trial) if he could have fired at those idiots.

I hope they get the freakin' book thrown at them when they are caught. If he had hit them instead of nearly killing himself trying not to, people would be all up in arms about the excessive use of force. Let's recognize his selflessness and their response to it.

Just an observation, but all the negative comments I hear about bikers (from non-bikers) are about the way some sport bike riders carry on like the road is their private playground, not about the classic badass bikers and such. Of course, no one notices the majority of sport bike riders who ride sanely. It's always the fool who stands out the most.

Not all Blacks are members of the Black panthers

Not every gay is flaming

Not ever Irishman is a drunk

and not all bikers act like this.. why would any person in the general public have reason to think otherwise?

However.. if they do..so what.. I never threw a leg over a motorcycle to please Joe Public.

That cop is actually lucky, No cops that I know wear seat belts because they need to exit quickly and seatbelts can slow there response time down so with his car rolling he got away lucky not being hurt more or even killed getting thrown from the car, I've known a few bikers who had a game of getting away from a chase and had no desires to ride with any of them back when I was younger.

Washington State, from what I've read, has no exemption for police officers not wearing their seatbelts. He was in a high speed pursuit, he should have been smart enough to put his belt on. He should get disciplined by his department for not wearing the belt. The injuries he sustained are due to his violation of not wearing a seat belt and he should still be disciplined regardless of the injury. The injury is separate from the violation. He did get lucky he wasn't killed by being tossed out of the car and have the car chasing him and crushing him.

I don't understand how he lost control of the car, aren't they trained for elusive maneuvers? What about the ABS system in the car, newer model cars and trucks have traction control and other such safety devices installed on the cars, was his defective?

So much information not given....

Yes the motorcyclists were morons for what they did and I'm not discounting that. They were lucky the cop hit his brakes.

I don't know the different laws in other states, Just the cops I know here, The city cop cars have a clip to lock into the seatbelt to stop the warning lights, they have them to be able to jump right out if a perp runs or shoots so they can move quickly out of the car, not sure if the state cops do the same though. But that's just in this state.

If state law requires John Q Public to wear a belt, then cops are required to do so in order to follow law. The fact they don't wear them and any reason they give is just and excuse and they are breaking the law. They are required to wear them.

These bikers were dicks and need to get everything the law can dump on them. Bad enough they caused it, but leaving the scene of an accident with injuries; I believe that carries some hefty fines and jail time in some states.

Assholes on bikes are still assholes. Here's hoping they find them and throw the book at them.

My vt700 will wheelie... not that I would do it on the road.

The news report video stated the motorcycles swerved in front of the police car, and the officer got on the brakes too hard causing him to lose control and roll the car. IMHO the cop tried too hard to avoid hitting the cyclists.

Pretty disgusting, alright! It's also embarrassing to those of us who reside in the great State of Washington. The actions of those morons unduly reflect on all of us. I hope these punks are caught soon and offer the officer my prayers for a full recovery.
