07’ Spirit 1100
I slipped and did a soft drop my bike damage the throttle grip chrome cap and “tube” the the cap screws onto. I seen a few videos on how to replace the rubber but not the white plastic tube. Is it a issue?

I have found it may not slide enough or have enough slack to get the cables out. I remove the 2 screws holding the cable bracket to the carbs and that gives enough slack to get them out of the throttle sleeve. Use a JIS or PH2 screwdriver to avoid stripping the screwheads. they are not Phillips, they're Japanese Industrial Standard. Edit: might need to unhook from carbs after removing bracket
I remove/shift the handlebars to remove cables and spool. Actually I use 1" tube that I zip tie to the forks to assist in handlebar swapping etc.. Always protect your tank with a padded cover. I use a old lawn chair cushion.
