2002 honda shadow Vt600. I bought this bike 2 years ago. It came with this TJ velocity stack all set up correctly. Mechanic told me to put a airfilter back on it because of how dirty my carb was. Does the stacks really like that much dirt and stuff into the carb, and are they worth keeping on my bike??

Howdy Shrader!

I'd say your mechanic is correct.

If you think about all the road grime, dust, dirt, etc. that ends up on the surface of your motorcycle then think about your engine actively drawing all that road grime, dust, dirt, etc. into the carburetor, then yeah...you need to keep all that stuff out...an air filter is most definitely needed.

Also, without an air filter all that road grime, dust, dirt, etc. will end up in your motor which will shorten the life of everything from the valves to the piston rings.
Even if the stacks come with a screen in it? I don't want to come off as arguing I just didn't install this and know very little about it.
