I have recently been thinking of getting a bike big enough for my wife and I. I spotted a new 2009 VTX R 1300 at the shop yesterday. I think I'm in love. I don't have the money for the bike right now I'm thinking next spring. I was wondering what my bike would be worth with my new mustang seat. KBB doesn't factor in mileage I just bought my bike last year with 2200 miles on it. As of present its sitting at 8600, any idea of a good asking price . Also any reviews of the 1300 VTX R?

If you look on the KBB page there is a link to a chart that shows expected or acceptable mileage ranges for the type of bike you are checking. That would at least give you a point of reference.

Check ebay and craigslist to get a feel for pricing in your area and go for it. Good luck selling and I hope you find a nice new one you'll enjoy.

I missed out on an 1300R with12k miles for $5500. Had bags, shield, lightbar, and sissy bar. My wife thinks the 1300R is a "pretty" bike.

As far as the value for the added equipment it's a wash. You would be better off taking what you can off the 750 and sell it seperately. As for the VTX, I took a couple of them out for test rides and there fit me perfectly(vertically challenged) and I really like the way they ride. I was actually looking for one when I bought my Sabre but the Sabre was loaded with add ons and was 2,000 cheaper then a new VTX.

Agreed that the add-ons won't bring you any more money but they may help sell the bike. If you trade in with a dealer then I would defintely put the stock seat back on and sell the mustang seat seperately.

Around these parts, a 2001 750 goes for anywhere between 2500.00 and 3500.00 and you can pick up a 1300 between 5K and 7500.00 depending on the year.
