Wheel bearing replacement...

Hey guys,
Going to be doing wheel bearings on the '83 VT500 (front and back). Quick question for anyone who's done this...can you tap the old ones out with a drift or punch, or do you actually have to get a puller? I have a seal and bearing driver set sitting on the shelf gathering dust, so putting the new ones in shouldn't be a problem...just wondering how hard it is to get the old ones out...

I am about to do the same thing on a 05 sabre. From what I have read it can be punched out LITTLE by LITTLE all the way around from the opposite side OR you can find something to expand in the bearing and pull/push it out.

I am going to try an expanding anchor bolt and heating the rim and see how it comes out. Local shops want just over $100 to remove/replace the bearing.. Said could be MORE if the bearing is hard to get out. (that is with ME supplying replacement).
