Talking about mileage on a bike, we have a guy in our local group who recently traded a 09 Ultra for a 2010 Ultra. The 09 had 45,000 miles on it. Yep, all in one year. About three weeks ago he and one other guy rode from Newnan, Ga to Baton Rouge, LA and back in one day -- 17 hours.

He has it mapped out on his GPS so come this spring he will ride through all 48 states in 10 days (holding all things equal). Man likes to ride.

2005 GL 1800 150,000 miles.

2005 Spirit 750 - had 3400 miles on it when I bought it in June '08.
Now it has 9,800.

Man some of you guys have really put on some major miles. I'm almost embarrassed admitting how few miles I've done. I'll leave my previous post though. It's the truth. I guess I've always just been the type to take short rides. I typically head somewhere for lunch on a nice weekend day, and then head home.

My 2000 Spirit 1100 was just about ready to turn 71K this week. 55K was mine in the last 2 and a half years.

But I think I just fried my second Stator. Just replaced it last summer, but I never cut out the infamous three yellow wire connector. Hey as long as it was working I didn't feel like messing with it.

Well, All the riding in the recent heavy rains we've had lately has taken there toll. The wires shorted out and now the bike is in the shop again.

I ride to commute. 100 miles five days a week. I don't abuse my bike. Drive about 65-70mph. Change the oil regularly. But the miles add up and I ride in all weather, good or bad.

The most mileage I ever put on a bike was a 1985 Kawasaki air-cooled, shaft-drive, 700 LTD. 398,000 in 10 years. I was riding 120 miles a day commuting 6 days a week. and doing some serious Iron-Butt riding on any days off.

Bought my 2007 Spirit 1100 on July 3, 2007...

35,308.9 miles since then...

Only had a fuel pump go bad on me so, far...

 2007 Shadow Aero. 29,863 on her. But then I commute everyday to work. I put 10,000 miles a year on a bike just getting to work.

I probably have the fewest of anyone on the forum. I have had my bike since June, 2008 and I have 2200 miles on it. I don't use it to commute, nor do I go on long rides; I ride it in good weather on back country roads on the weekends. I also have a career that commands a lot of attention and, when I'm not working, I spend a lot of time with my wife and two small kids.

Someday, when my kids are older or out of the house, I'll cruise. For now, my bike is my toy.

I have 40,000 on my '96 1100 Shadow. I just use it for the longer rides. I keep the miles down by riding my bobber to work and shorter trips.
I just heard an older (1980s?) 1100 Shadow with 250,000 miles on it, so they do last. I think it was on Youtube or one of those video sites.
My friend put 100,000 on his Harley Electriglide, but had the heads re-done at 50,000. The bottom end is sounding like it's ready to fall out any day now.
Alot of the metric bikes are very capable of getting high mileage on them, but it seems people get rid of them for various reasons, before they get too high. Some just don't have faith in the engines. If kept on a rigorous maintenance schedule, these bikes are tough as nails.

Ok, Chicky-Poo...I'm laid off from work, only for a week now, and am starting to lose my marbles...

I just put 1,000 miles on my bike in my head...

Does that count?!?

99 Areo 1100
26,000 when bought in April 09
33,000 now, ride to work almost every day only 14 mi. round trip.
Have not been on any long trips but are in the future for sure.

I hope you land a good job, soon... I'll send up some prayers for you and your neighbors... Ohio get hit hard by the recession? Our area isn't doing too badly, yet...

When I was in Seattle I was shocked by all the folks that looked down on their luck in the streets and on the sidewalks...

I just wish I could do something to help, but the wife and I are treading water with 6 kids at home, 4 teens and one 20 and one just 10...

Aww, David, thanks! For me, just until biz picks up again. I just hate sitting around on my A$$. The weather here in Cleveland sucks, my garage is not heated so working on the bikes is hit or miss according to the forecast, and I certainly won't take them out with the salty roads...

I appreciate your thoughts and prayers, Brother! I really do!

And, yes, Ohio has been hit hard. Unemployment at 11.5%. Even for us folks in the HVAC biz. People can't afford to replace, much less repair.
