Anybody seen or used these tires yet? I guess we will see how good they are when the reviews roll in down the road.
So are you gonna keep us in suspense or is a review forthcoming?Just got back from a 2,000 mile trip and the SR-999 are still holding air.
The cost difference between the 777 & the 999 was only $14 more for the 999 so that’s why I chose them for my 2012 V-Star 1300 tourer. Loved the 777 grip in the wet or dry but the rear tire of my 777 wore out after 5,200 miles on it. The front tire has 6k on it and still looks brand new. On my HD Electra Glide the front tire has 1.8k and the rear tire 1k so I’m hoping that it will get decent wear mileage out of them. The Harley I’m contemplating selling here possibly this summer but I’m not completely sure yet. Since I have my beloved V-Star is such a fun bike to ride I ride it far more than my Ultra Limited. I’ll mull it over the next few months and see what happens on the sell or not🤷🏻. But the 999’s are on my older brothers HD and his has almost 3.5k on his and he’s been happy with them. The 777 is a great grippy tire so I’m thinking these new 999’s will be great as well.I just bought a rear Shinko SR999. It should be here on Friday.
Grip is excellent and when I throw it into curves it’s very stable. The 999 so far is a HIT in my experience. How do they handle? Good grip? Any rain or wet conditions on your trip?
Will do…. The 999’s have been great on my 17 HDEGUL so far…..Now I just paid $174 for the rear 999 tire I just mounted on my 2012 V-Star 1300 Tourer 7/7/23.I’m seriously thinking about replacing my Commander 2’s on my V-Star 1300 Tourer with these tires when the time comes, @glenknight123 and @JPatron keep us updated as you rack up the miles on those Shinko SR 999 tires……..
Only $15 or so difference here in Canadia, but still different that it's more than a Pirelli. So the Shinko 999 cost more $57 more than a Pirelli MT66 in 170/80 size?
I had a shop install and balance my tire so good ole fashion lead weights were used. What method was used for balancing the tire?
What air pressure are you running in that tire?
By table topping do you mean cupping?
The closest I've got on a rear tire lasting that long was on a Shinko Tourmaster 230 (12,230 miles). There was definitely some more miles left on the Tourmaster but I was going on a 2,000 trip so I got the Shinko SR 999 Long Haul tire after seeing it posted here. So far I like it. It's still round and holds air.So the Shinko 999 cost more $57 more than a Pirelli MT66 in 170/80 size? Wow. MT66 is a 15,000 mi. tire on a VT1100 Spirit.
Just hit 95,000 miles on my motorcycle. 13,995.2 miles on the Shinko SR-999 and they still have a lot of tread left. I believe these will be my go-to tire from now on. Too bad they don't make a size for the front (120/90-18)Looking at the 999 for my next hides as well. Have any of you running the 999 had any problems with warpage in the sidewalls or in balancing?
I like my 777s, other than the fact that now two of the 90/90/21s have each had warped sidewalls that required 32 psi. absolute minimum to keep from having a running wobble. My 160/80/15's been fine, though I've read that others've had balancing problems with'em. And yes, they grip excellent but 5k is about it for the rears. Perhaps it's just that the 777s're having "new product" production teething problems?
